Web Design Trends for 2016

Your website is your visitor’s window on your world and often the first impression they have!

As such it is important that a first impression makes the right one! The question is should you jump on every design trend which might help make sure that impression is the right one.

A Redesign – not necessarily the best option

It would be pretty easy to jump on the bandwagon as it rolls by and expect everything to be rosy from then on.

Unfortunately, although it might seem like a good idea, and it might be for a new site, visitors are creatures of habit and too big a leap to modernise or update could be more detrimental than any benefit.

That’s not to say they should be ignored either as some can have an impact on the visitor experience and encourage them to stay a while longer. The longer they stay the more likely they are to engage and travel further along your conversion funnel.

Just as they are creatures of habit they’re also exposed to new site design in their everyday browsing and grow to expect certain types of experiences.

Testing a few of the suggestions (but not all at same time) in the infographic below, without a full redesign, could help identify the emerging trends which might sit happily in your existing layout and help contribute to increasing conversion.
